In a passage from one of my favorite books, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, the author describes her childhood fascination with hiding pennies at the roots of a tree or in broken pieces of sidewalk. She was greatly excited “at the thought of the first lucky passer-by who would receive in this way, regardless of merit, a free gift from the universe. …There are lots of things to see, unwrapped gifts and free surprises,” but she goes on to wonder who gets excited by a mere penny these days. She decides, “If you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted in pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get.”
I believe in finding joy in the little things life has to offer. Tiny things that make you smile. Because there is so much out there to enjoy as long as you recognize it is there.
This is the philosophy I share with you. I work with most wedding clients for over a year and portrait clients for anywhere from one month to several years as their children grow. In this time, I truly love getting to know you as people and learning about the things you enjoy. It is a special time in your life and my goal is to make it feel that way as much as possible.
